Playlist January 2015

Happy New Year! I have been rather inactive recently due to the immense stress of school! I have also changed my music taste (unintentionally) and I wanted to share my favourites!

1. Left Hand Free by Alt-j

I really like what this band do and their songs are very unusual. I know they are touring at the moment but unfortunately I didn't get tickets!

2. Taro by Alt-j

This is another one of their songs and it is so cool and quirky. I particularly like the instrumental piece!

I would recommend listening to something like this to anyone as I have fallen in love and I was convinced I wouldn't like it!

3. Luna by Bombay Bicycle Club

This is such a happy song and the band has lots of other good tunes :)

4. Changing of the seasons by Two Door Cinema Club

I won't repeat what I have already said because these songs are all as good as each other but this is a good tune :)

Pink Grapefruits

I thought these were very Autumnal and complimented the weather we have been having - what is better than sitting down and eating jelly and ice cream, pretending that you are a child once again? I have seen Orange Jellies done before but I wanted to go for alternative Grapefruits! I will pre-warn you, these did make quite a mess of my kitchen - but they are totally safe otherwise(!)

You will need:

5 Grapefruits

5 Jellies (preferably different colours)

Patience - a skill that was not with me at the time of making these.

//

1. Firstly cut all of your grapefruits in half and take all of the inside, out!

2. Put all of the grapefruits in a cupcake case tin.

3. So now you have 10 half-gutted-grapefruits, it is time to make your jelly! If you have bought your jelly from a packet: boil a kettle and tear the pieces into small squares so that they are easier to melt.

4. Once you have put the boiled water into your jelly, pour it into your grapefruit segments and pop into the fridge!

Enjoy

Back to school resolutions

As it is that time of year again, I thought I would post a late Back to School health routine to help survive the early mornings and horrible revision. I appreciate that you have probably read many of these useful tip blogs - but I wanted to add a twist! I suggest to brighten your skin and give it a glow, try making this face mask recipe, it worked wonders for me.

 Face mask:

1 Peeled and blended avocado
1 Tablespoon of sour cream
10ml of Lemon juice
100g of Porridge oats

A face mask is really important for the appearance of the skin and also the quality of skin. I have been treating my skin well with day cream and night cream, not forgetting facial wipes and cleanser and toner - and the all important moisturiser to protect your skin from the sun, even in the Autumn English weather!

//

My second helpful tip is to drink lots of water. I know this is so boring but I have been doing this recently and have really noticed the difference. For me personally, I have been putting lemon in my water and drinking this before I do anything when I wake up, to accompany breakfast and when I go to bed. I also challenged myself to drink a litre in the day time at school and slowly but surely it has been working. I have noticed the difference in my skin, how awake I am and the quality of my revision.

Liebster Award

First of all I would like to thank Emily for nominating me for this award - it was a lovely surprise! I was chuffed as a new blogger to find that my blog is being recognised.  The concept of the Liebster Award is to find new bloggers and have a chain line solely on the internet.

Here are the rules:

Step 1. Link back to the person that nominated you for the award.

Step 2. You must write 11 facts about yourself so people can learn more about you.

Step 3. You also have to answer the 11 questions given by the nominator

Step 4. After completing this, you should nominate 11other bloggers that have under 200 followers and then give them 11 questions of your choice. However, you cannot nominate your nominator!

Step 5. You have to let your nominees know that they've been nominated and give them access to the link to find out more about the award.

Step 2; 11 Facts about me:

1. My favourite sport is swimming - I am mad about it and have recently been inspired by the Commonwealth Games and I really want to start again.

2. I have an obsession for 5 Seconds of Summer I have met them 4 times and I particularly like Ashton Irwin ;).

3. My favourite book series is Harry Potter (particularly 'Order of the Phoenix' - but I do love them all) I also enjoy watching the films and really want to visit the studios soon as I hear they are amazing!

4. My favourite thing to do is buy Lush products - my favourite of all time is 'Candy Mountain', closely followed by 'King of Skin'.

6. I have met the Vamps :)

7. My favourite animal is an owl, I think they are really beautiful creatures especially as they feature frequently in Harry Potter! If I ever had my own owl (non-realistic scenario) I would want a whiten similar to Hedwig.

8. As i sit here inhaling the wonderful smell of my Yankee Candles I feel it necessary to mention them in my facts. My favourite scent is 'Loves me, loves me not' which is a very fresh smell of daisies and grass - I would recommend this particularly for the summer!

Mad Hatter's Tea Party; Drink Me

Summer has officially begun!  I thought it would be nice to make up a refreshing recipe for a strawberry milkshake - I tried this out the other day and they were a huge success!

To make the delicious strawberry milkshake, you will need:

Ice Cream (any flavour of your choice although I prefer to use vanilla)

Strawberry milkshake powder

Strawberries

Milk

Handheld blender

Large bowl

Sprinkles

Whippy Cream

Straws

Milkshake Glasses

(Makes around 3 servings)

1. Put 3 scoops of your ice cream in the mixing bowl, 2 - 4 tablespoons of the milkshake powder (depending on how strong you like it), 6 strawberries, and 1/2 a pint of milk (this too depends on how thick you want your milkshake to be).

2. Use your blender to mix all of the ingredients together until it is smooth, feel free to add more quantities to your own preference.

3. Finally, pour the milkshake into your milkshake glasses and decorate with sprinkles, strawberry milkshake powder, whippy cream and strawberries. Enjoy!
